But, do you think this is a good move? It happens in real life, smart kids are allowed to skip grade levels. Since the beginning of the series I considered doing the same with Derrick. He is shown to understand freshman Algebra really well, and helps the gang with their homework in "[[The Homework Night Redirection]]". Throughout the original series he is shown to be very talented. It is no doubt that high schools will want this student. However, I think I should have done this at the beginning of the series, rather than near the beginning of Season 2.

Derrick's experience in high school will only be an occasional side story, I thought about having him travel around with Packie and his friends, but these new characters need to be fully fleshed out before I could even add more characters. I made this mistake in Season 2 of the original series, with the addition of Salvador Real. I actually dislike this character, I look back and see Season 2 as uninteresting, he was just a really boring addition. Later on I found better ways to use him, but I don't want to make the mistake of adding new characters to the main cast too early in this series (well, Angel Chacon was added to the main cast in mid-Season 1, but it was better because it was not forced like Salvador was). I look back and feel that he was not an interesting addition so early, I actually dislike Season 2, but I want to say the series got better after that). TV shows always add new characters later on to open new storylines, it could either be good or it may end up having the show jump the shark.

Well this is not adding Derrick to the main cast, but he will have to be featured a bit more than the other siblings, making an unbalance.

I want your opinion though. Do you think this is a pretty good move or should I abandon the idea? I just do not want to ruin the dynamic of the series when it is still very young, that is all. <ac_metadata title="A Risky Move?"> </ac_metadata>

Hi, Enigma. I want to let you know what is currently going on in Sibling Rivalries: The Next Chapter. I have a real good comic idea, but the question is, should I really do this?

Derrick McReary is the second youngest of the McReary siblings in the series. He is very smart and gifted, despite only being a sixth grader, he has the intelligence of a high school student. The high school sees how smart he is and allows Derrick to skip straight to high school if he passes a test. Derrick passes the test and starts going to high school with Packie and Francis. It could open different story ideas.

But, do you think this is a good move? It happens in real life, smart kids are allowed to skip grade levels. Since the beginning of the series I considered doing the same with Derrick. He is shown to understand freshman Algebra really well, and helps the gang with their homework in "The Homework Night Redirection".
