RoboQuest, known in Japan as MechaQuest (メククエスト Mekukuesuto), is an anime and manga series based on the Tanoshī's video game series MetalLord. Spree produces and screens an English-language version of the anime under a Tanoshī broadcast licence. The manga and anime series, in both its Japanese and English versions, is written by Hachiro Akimoto. Despite the best attempts of the creative designers the anime, manga and video game diverge from each other at several major points. The English adaption has been edited due to Americanization and censorship. It was deemed that certain character names and content in the original were inappropriate for young viewers in the United States. As a result, certain pieces of content have been altered to suit the needs of American viewers.

The series follows Riyu Achiro and his CyberPersona, MechaRiyu as they develop a friendship while dealing with numerous threats from cyber gangsters. Alongside Riyu are his friends Aiko Amori, Goro Akiyama and Hanshiro Hayashi and their CyberPersonas Miya, Tochi and Blade. The series initially follows the storyline of the games closely but diverges as the series progresses. It is focused at the eight to twelve age bracket with its content specially tailored to appeal to this age group.
