  • Hi Dimitri,

I just wanted to let you know about what is going on in Vice City in my fan-fiction universe. It is still pretty much the same as the 3D era games except that things have changed to be far more modern. It's not the eighties anymore so things have caught up with the modern times. The gans have changed too as has the power structure.

The Vercetti Crime Family, also known as the Vercetti Family (pronounced as VER-CHET-TI in the more correct Italian), is one of the most powerful gangs. It is led by Tommy Vercetti who has adopted the Italian form of his name (Tommaso) to become a serious don in his own right. He even succeeded in getting his family recognized by the Five Families of Liberty City and The Commission which is the dream of any mafia family that wants to be legimitzed.

Then there are the "Cholos" gang who have merged with the Los Santos Vagos to become a Vice City branch known as the Vice City Vagos. They already used the colour yellow and were a Mexican street gang so it was a natural decision. The "Cubans" are the Los Cabrones who are still their own independent gang. The Cortez Crew has become the Cortez Cartel who took over the remnants of the Conzalez Crew. The Trailer Park Mafia has merged with the Aryan Sons.

The White Stallionz MC is gone and The Lost MC is dominant in the state. In real-life the Outlaws MC (who The Lost MC is based on) is dominant in Florida. So The Lost MC will be the dominant club in the state - just like how the Angels of Death have their mother chapter in San Fierro, The Lost MC will have theirs somewhere in the Vice City State.

I still can't think of a name for Florida...like how New York was renamed to Liberty for the Statue of Liberty, Alderney for one of the islands in the English Channel and San Andreas for the fault line.

(oh and I forgot the Vice City Triad who are the Vercetti Family's main rivals)

    • I can honestly see Tommy saying that line with the voice of Ray Liotta. It is nice to see that he remains powerful many years after his story. In GTA Vice City he usually carried out tasks by himself but as he gets older it would make sense why he would have other people do jobs for him. He most certainly needs new members in his gang after he lost all of his major members; Lance Vance betrayed him and was killed for it, Avery Carrington was killed years later by Toni Cipriani, and he drifted away from Ken Rosenberg. He will need new muscle to keep his empire strong. In the game, Tommy purchases multiple properties and in the end of the game has pretty much control over the city. Maybe you can show in your fan fiction that he still owns those assets.

Do you think Tommy and Toni Cipriani will cross paths? And would you bring back the Leone family? Salvatore Leone, the don, was killed by Claude, and it is unknown who would take over the family, though it is assumed by many that Toni is the one that becomes don. I see both as possibly either joining forces or becoming rivals, with both wishing to expand their power outside of their city. Though then again, I'm not sure if Vercetti would want anything to do with Liberty City after what happened in 1971 with Sonny Forelli setting him up with the eleven hitmen..

    • I've often wondered about Tommy's accent. I'm introducing him speaking with a New York-esk accent like many of the mafia members we see in the games. Though he is of Italian descent he doesn't have an Italian accent because he was born in America. He never picked it up either because, like most children, he copied the way the kids around him spoke. In the way that kids from immigrant families will adopt the accent of the kids they go to school with instead of their parent's accent unless they are specially taught it. But now that you mention it I can so see him speaking with Ray Liotta's voice! But his Liberty City/New York-esk accent would be very distinctive in Vice City.

As Tommy says in his own words he's an important man. Too important to be doing the "grunt work" on the street anymore. Plenty of street thugs would just love to put a bullet in him to claim on the reputation of killing the Kingpin of Vice City. So instead, he has made men do the dirty work and the street level tasks while he does have a direct role at specific times. For example, when someone insults the don they are brought to the don to apologize or face punishment. If certain things demand Tommy's personal attention or if an insult is great enough he will do it himself.

Take a look at my Liberty City Mob Wars page. The Leone Family is no more. It has been destroyed in Liberty City and its surviving members forced into hiding. Toni is now a ranking member of the Ancelotti Family. I did this to build on the evidence from GTA IV that the Leone's have collapsed. But the Ancelotti Family is an ally of the Vercetti Family so Toni and Tommy could cross paths. But Tommy would demand more respect due to the fact that he is a don.

Yes, Tommy still owns all of his assets. But he's modernized them over the years and upgraded them. He is a dangerous criminal mastermind with a violent reaction to his enemies but he is also a very capable businessman. He runs his family with skill and a great deal of respect but he is also a very successful businessman.

As of 2013 - the Vercetti Family is the dominant criminal group in Vice City, Tommy is in effect still the kingpin and ruler of the city's underworld. He business arrangments with The Lost MC and the Cortez Cartel. But the Vice City Triads are a serious rival to his position at the top the criminal foodchain and they violently oppose him. Then there are the street gangs and the rest.

  • I still really like that name and find your whole Sibling Rivalries franchise very interesting. You actually inspired me to come up with my Untold Stories franchise which will be a similar thing with multiple smaller stories centering on specific NPC characters from the games. I've always been interested in the stories of the background ordinary residents in the GTA games. Such as that guy you just hijacked, or the young college girl you bump into on the street and even that cop whose car you wrecked during a police chase.

I like the sound of Sibling Rivalries: The Next Chapter and that the character's are older than they were in the older comics. It will be nice to see them growing up and facing new challenges in life. Now that he's at high school Packie will have all the typical high school problems. That one jock who gives him a hard time, that girl he likes but hasn't been able to ask out, worrying about his future after high school, the big game night, junior prom and that all goodness. But now that he's older he will also be realizing that he has a reputation and that he fits into the social structure one way or another. He'll have more of an adult-like persona with all the stresses and complexities that come with it.

But at the end of the day you as the author have to decide what you want to do with it. Where do you want Packie's story to go next? What time of young man will he become? Is he on the football team? Is he a shy misfit? Or is he that moody loner that no one really knows much about?

    • I still really love the "Next Chapter" sequel title. It just sounds really nice to me as a writer and is a great way to let the readers know straight away what the story is. It's almost like a tv show title which I can imagine your comics as.

    • I'd like to think of my comics as like a TV show as well. The series could easily work as a cartoon of some sort just as long as I retool some stuff.

I am really glad I am continuing the franchise with this sequel series, I hate how I just abandoned these characters back last year when I started going through those problems, so it just feels good to be back and expanding on these characters and the world around them.

  • Hi Dimitri,

I've chosen heavier music for the storyline music for Brotherhood Rising. It just gives you a real feeling for Angus and the club. They are rough and violent bikers who are pretended to do what has to be done to protect their club and its interests. But it's also about protecting each other as friends and keeping their brotherhood alive.

I'm working on the early stages of the fan-fiction to build up the friendships between the main characters.

    • That is a big part of the fan-fiction and my novel too. I really want to show that outlaw bikers aren't the mindless violent thugs the media makes them out to be. We don't get to see into their world because they're protecting themselves and their way of life. But they have the very same emotions that we do. They struggle with all the same things. At the end of the day bikers are human, just like everyone else.

Writing a scene like Lee's funeral can be very difficult to pull off. Getting the emotion right is a big thing while staying true to the grittiness of the biker culture. They won't cry but they will be very deeply sad and mournful. For example, Lee is taken back to the clubhouse in his coffin so all the club can say goodbye before the funeral. One by one they all stop and place a hand on the coffin and put something in with him. Angus becomes particularly close to Lee so it is very hard on him - and he blames himself. He is the leader of the club, he thinks he should have been able to prevent Lee's death.

To make matters worse. Lee has a young wife and a small child who are at his funeral. But the club takes care of them. This whole scene is right in the middle of the war with the Jesters MC so it will serve as a strong image - so many die young in the biker world. The lyrics from that song really sum it up "Leave your tears at the grave, for a brother that they could not save."

... but then the club's grief turns into anger and they swear revenge on Lee's killers. The war then goes to a whole new level.

I've always been interested in the whole Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada area. I've never had a chance to explore the United States, I've only been in the Los Angeles Airport on my way to the UK, but I want to travel America one day. Arizona seems really interesting from what I've seen in tv series and the like. I find the variety of climates in America so interesting like the pine forests and cold in Colorado and the desert heat and dryness of Arizona. Then the swamps and humidity of Louisana.

    • The funeral scene will be a good part to show Angus's caring personality. He may be a violent man, but the death of one of his closest friends will really bring out his emotions and show that he and his brothers are indeed human after all, like you said.

This is a good turning point in the story, and could be the starting point for many more events will come. Angus will definitely wish to avenge his death in some way.

Back to Arizona. We are not a bad state, and we do have a lot to offer. Well, we are especially famous for our Grand Canyon (which I have yet to see myself). I do wish to explore more of the states around us, such as Colorado and Nevada. I also want to see more of California and New Mexico. The times when we went there were strictly on a schedule and you know, we couldn't really go off route to explore the states more.

  • Hey Dimitri, just wanted to say that I REALLY like the new home page! Great work man, it looks really good! Nice touch with the admin list too. That makes it clear right from the start so that new users know who to go to for help.

    • Thanks man! I think it looks better without the whole "recent activity" section taking up most of the page. If people want to go there, they can just find the link in the header, you know?

I highly doubt we will gain any more new members, but if we ever do, then I want our home page to give them a warm welcome and let them know the basics of the wiki.

    • I really love what you've done with it! You are doing such a good job with the wiki as a whole. It really looks professional and well presented. Even the GTA Wiki would be proud. But I wouldn't give up hope on getting new members. A nice home page and some details about what is allowed on the wiki will bring people in.

I agree about getting rid of the "recent activity" section. That was untidy and took up far too much space. Plus it kinda looked like a competition to make articles as in "look at what I've done."

    • Thanks man! Sorry I haven't been active very much lately .. family problems. But everything's good and I'll be back real fast. Anyway, well I tried promoting this wiki on other wikis with a blog post, but I either failed to get people's attention or the blog post was removed by administrators. I don't know if we will get any newcomers, but I'm just glad we actually have some people. I enjoy our small little family here.. you, me, Vincestick, and others.

I never liked how the "recent activity" section took up pretty much the entire space, and I eventually decided to get rid of it, now it looks much tidier, you are right.

  • "Do unto others and suffer no slight."

I've decided to make that the official motto for the Devils Chosen MC. It pretty much sums up their whole attitude towards society and the world in general. It's important not to forget that at the end of the day they are violent criminals and ruthless outlaw bikers. They do whatever they need to do in order to protect their club and its interests. Any show of disrespect is responded to with brutal force - in the outlaw biker world you have to demand respect and respond to any show of disrespect. Otherwise you risk being seen as weak and the other clubs won't respect you at all.

The second time Chris makes a cameo will be just before the outbreak of the Devils Chosen MC - Jesters MC War. I'm planning on having him loitering somewhere with Hunter when the bikers ride past. I might just Chris as heraldry as well as a reference to innocence - he's the largely innocent kid that Angus once was. Eventually he will stop appearing to show that the bikers have passed the point of no return. Chris reminds Angus of the troubled kid he once was in the Chris is really not a bad kid.

You had a good point about the name. It definitely does seem more creative and unique so I'll bring it back.

    • An act of mercy is when you show mercy to someone. For example, pulling the life support from a terminally ill person who is suffering can be an act of mercy. But it could also be thought of as murder - it's a big grey area.
