Gerald "Gerry" McReary is the third born child of the five McReary siblings, and appears as one of the primary cast members of Sibling Rivalries. He also has a primary role in one of its prequels, Sibling Rivalries: Vancouver Vultures.

Description[]

Gerry's main interest is football, and his character mostly revolves around his love for football, and being quick to reference football in any scene. His favorite football team is the New Orleans Saints, and his five favorite football players were mentioned to be Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Eli Manning, and Andrew Luck (mentioned in "Like Father, Like Sons (And Daughter)", but everyone besides Brees were hardly mentioned by Gerry again). Patrick Mahomes II also became his favorite football player as of Season 9.

Gerry's character traits include being athletic and energetic, never being afraid of anything and always looking forward to new adventures. The only time where Gerry showed true fear was when facing The Chavez Brothers in "Straight Outta Green Bay". Starting with Season 7, GTA Nerd made sure to avoid continuing his flandarization of Gerry by ensuring he had more of a personality behind just speaking in football references in every comic, as he remains an exciting person for the others to be around.

As he reveals in "Rock n' Roll, Bro!", Gerry wishes to become a quarterback for the Green Bay Packers in his adulthood. Although he is currently a big fan of Drew Brees (New Orleans Saints, before retiring in 2021) and Patrick Mahomes II (Kansas City Chiefs), he has decided to have his homebase remain here in Green Bay. The longer he has lived in Green Bay, the longer he may have gotten over his disliking of the Packers which was rarely mentioned, such as in "The Step-Cousins Wilson".

Christopher Lavon (alter-ego)[]

In the Season 10 comic of the same name, Gerry adopts an alias dubbed "Christopher Lavon" (combining the middle names of his favorite football players Drew Brees and Patrick Mahomes II), and fakes being above 13 years old in order to attend the gym. He bribes Joel with money to pretend Chris is his classmate and allow him to enter via Joel's guest pass.

Gerry later gets nervous as he does not want anybody, especially his family, to discover his secret. After a talk with Zack Marshall, Gerry retires the Chris Lavon identity and returns to playing football with his friends. However, weeks later, Joel tries to bring "Chris" back to the gym. Gerry then has no choice to since he has no money to bribe him to go away, but at the gym, he reveals his true identity and says he will not return to the gym until he is 13. He leaves his Chris Lavon clothes and walks out, which makes some people sad. Zack is happy that Gerry officially killed off the Chris Lavon character, even though it gets Gerry grounded after he confessed to his mother what he was doing all this time.

Trivia[]

  • He appears to have inherited his father's curly hair.
  • He is almost always seen with a football, but he does not really appear with it as much in recent comics.
  • Gerry and Packie are currently the only characters in the series to have a speaking role in every comic.
  • His email address as of 2014 is DrewBreesFan01@yahoo.com.
  • He is the only family member that is known to be left-handed.
  • Currently, the only comics that Gerry does not reference football in any way at all are Zachary, "Love is What Makes the World Go 'Round", "Satellite Screw-Up", "Brothers For Life", "Saturday Morning Imposters", and "Ill-Behaved Interviewee". He only mentions football once in "My Ma Said Knock You Out".
  • Gerry has had an antagonistic role a few times, with these behaviors making him in conclusion the most violent sibling:
    • In "Fightin' Irish", he lashes out on his cousin Dillon for using the rest of the hot water in the shower.
    • In "McReary TV", he whines about Kate using the living room TV, even though he is always in there watching football and claims it is practically his. He also steals Derrick's money to pay for football merchandise, without paying him back. When Derrick attacked him out of anger, Gerry attacked back but harder. He did apologize for both of these acts.
  • As seen in the comic "Christopher Lavon" (which he also takes the role as protagonist in), Gerry is able to recall over 10 football player's full names in only a matter of seconds.
  • Gerry has had the closest near-death situation of perhaps any character in the series, in "The Adventures of Brees Fan and Kin Packie" where he accidentally falls down a tall building down multiple stories, until he is miraculously saved by Packie who caught him in his arms. Such an act would have been impossible to survive in real life.
  • "Pack To The Past" shows that he was fully potty trained by the age of 3.
  • His least favorite football team is the Cleveland Browns, making several taunts at them throughout the series.
  • Gerry and Packie (as of "My Ma Said Knock You Out") are currently the only McReary-Wilson family members to have abs (although Francis is revealed to have abs by the time he is 18 as seen in "Pack To The Future").
  • Comics like "Pockets Full of Posey('s Love)" and "Tasteless" reveal that he is quite concerned about the amount of calories that he consumes for meals; after eating pizza in the latter comic, he jokes that his coach shall never know about this meal.
