Angel Chacon appears as a main recurring character in Sibling Rivalries.

Description[]

Early Life[]

Angel is a young resident of Green Bay, Wisconsin, born to an unnamed Scottish mother and Spanish father named Sean Chacon. When he was 2, his mother abandoned him and Sean. This lead to Sean descending into madness; he struggled to keep jobs and couldn't provide Angel with a clean place to live. Not to mention he would rather spend money on lottery tickets and drugs than on any bills. For most of his life, Angel lived in a filthy trailer with Sean.

Angel started playing football in 2011 at the age of 9, as a place to get away from his father. Speaking of which, he also struggled to have clothes to wear, leading to his football uniform always being the only thing he wore. It is also possible that he wore this uniform, complete with the helmet, all the time due to being self-conscious about his appearance (especially his head, which he considers oversized).

When Angel first appears in the Season 1 comic "The Big Trade-Off", he is portrayed as very angry. He is annoyed when Patrick McReary, filling in for his brother Gerry as the football quarterback, keeps screwing up. Angel continues to insult him and even attacks him off-"screen". However, after they win the game, Angel apologizes for bringing his bad mood to the game, and asks if he can still befriend Packie, to which Packie accepts.

Suicide Attempt[]

Sometime in 2014, Angel becomes very fed up with his living situation and problems with his father, so much so that he is about to commit suicide with fellow Green Bay resident Steve Madison. They intended to jump off a cliff to their deaths, but Steve decides he does not want to die anymore. Both boys vow to keep on chugging through life, hoping that they will soon be rewarded for their persistence.

Relationship with Zoe[]

While Steve's life improved after he started dating Zachary Marshall at the end of Season 11, Angel's life began improving earlier on, when he began dating Zoe Torres in Season 7 (circa 2020). Angel was hinted to have a crush on Zoe since the Season 3 comic "Field Trip Gone Wrong!" (circa 2014), but what officially brought them together was being partnered on a project in mathematics class; Zoe thought it was very cute how Angel couldn't pronounce "integer".

In the first comic where they become a couple, "Torres and Tribulations", Angel receives a new outfit purchased by his new girlfriend, Zoe Torres. This provided him with a little more happiness in his life, although he still had his father to deal with.

In the comic "Casa de Torres" (circa 2022), Angel finally leaves his trailer when his father asks him to do crystal meth with him. Angel has Zoe call the cops, and Sean is arrested on charges of child neglect and drug usage. Angel now resides at the Torres residence, with his legal guardian being Zoe and Pablo's father Miguel Torres. He was very happy to move into a house with working water and air conditioning - he initially slept on an air mattress in Zoe's room, but still preferred this to the hard floor in his trailer. Miguel later purchased an actual bed for Angel.

As portrayed by Zoe in the same comic, Angel is revealed to already be interested in having sexual intercourse (despite both being 11 years old). Both of them give into their urges to go under the covers together, leading them to get in trouble by Miguel and Zoe's brother Pablo. They are separated for the night, with Angel sleeping on the couch in the living room. He is angry at Zoe for bringing out those urges in him when they took a whole month to push aside those feelings as best as they can. He has a panic attack as he worries he will be banished from the house, and doesn't know where to turn next. He actually considers killing himself again, but is stopped when he remembers that deal he made with Steve.

Everything works out well. Angel realized he was overthinking, him and Zoe apologize to Miguel and Pablo, and they are allowed to continue sleeping in their individual beds in Zoe's room. Additionally, it is hinted that Zoe will not become pregnant because they were stopped early on.

Trivia[]

  • Similar to Salvador Rosales, Angel was technically considered part of the main cast in early seasons, although they were "demoted" back to regular status around Season 4. However, they continue to be the most recurring friends.
  • Angel claims to be a fan of the Battlefield video game series, contrasting with Pablo's love for Call of Duty. Additionally, he mentioned that Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories is his favorite GTA title.
  • In "Casa de Torres", Gerry calls Angel "Sweaty Butt Chacon", likely due to the fact as quarterback, Gerry keeps his hands very close to Angel (the center)'s bottom before calling the play and receiving the ball. When a center has a sweaty bottom, it could lead to the quarterback's hands becoming wet and thus having less control over the ball. Tom Brady was famous for asking his centers to use baby powder to counteract the sweat.
  • It is unknown why Angel still wore all of the padding when his football uniform was his main outfit - he could have easily just worn the uniform and helmet.
  • Angel is the youngest known character to have both pecs and abs.
  • In "Rhyme With No Reason", Angel hints that he doesn't wish to go to college in the future, or at least is afraid that his financial situation will prevent him from going. Zoe tells him that they will cross that bridge when they get to it; it is possible that now Miguel Torres will help with the costs if he still decides to go.
